Happy Labor Day weekend!
Do you have weeks where you feel happy, energized and genuinely excited about what lies ahead. There’s a sense of possibility and you just want to run with it?
But then the harder truth hits that you’re also impatient.
When something feels this right, I want it to grow quickly. I want to be busy and all the pieces to click into place. I want momentum to mean I’ve already arrived.
But meaningful things rarely work that way. In fact, it is much more likely that a new path is built through small decisions, repeated effort and the willingness to keep moving even when the destination still feels far away. Patience doesn’t have to mean standing still. It can mean continuing forward without demanding that every step produce immediate proof.
That’s what the Horse brings to mind for me this week. Because while a horse carries tremendous power, it doesn’t run at full speed all the time. It responds to what’s around it, trusts the intelligence of its body and adjusts its pace to the terrain.
Maybe the lesson isn’t to rein in my excitement. Maybe it’s to trust it. I can feel alive. I can feel impatient. And I can keep building something meaningful, one sure-footed step at a time.

LESSONS FROM THE WILD

There is something unmistakable about a horse in motion. Power and instinct come together. The body knows what to do, the rhythm takes over and hesitation gives way to forward movement.
A horse carries the energy of freedom and not freedom from responsibility or uncertainty, but the freedom that comes from trusting yourself.
That instinct begins with a horse’s extraordinary awareness. Did you know horses have the largest eyes of any land mammal? And their eye placement gives them an almost 360-degree view of their surroundings, with only small blind spots directly in front of and behind them. Sixteen muscles allow each ear to rotate up to 180 degrees independently which allows them to notice sounds coming from different directions.
A horse is built to pay attention.
It senses subtle shifts in movement, pressure and direction, responding through the intelligence of the body before there is time to analyze every signal. Its instinct is not separate from wisdom, this instinct is wisdom in motion.
We often feel that same knowing before we can explain it. A sense of aliveness. A pull toward something new. An idea that creates energy instead of draining it. But then the mind steps in, asking for guarantees, timelines and proof.
When something feels expansive and alive, pay attention. Your momentum may be telling you what your overthinking cannot. This does not mean racing toward the finish line or forcing progress before it is ready. A horse has many rhythms and knows when to walk, when to find its stride and when to run.
Can you trust what is awakening within you? Let movement create clarity. Allow the path to reveal itself beneath your feet. You already feel the direction. Now give yourself permission to move.
Wild Prompt: Where am I waiting for permission I no longer need?
